THE FOOD & SHOPS AT LAGUARDIA RECEIVE TWO CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARDS


Queens, NY — (May 13, 2009) - MarketPlace Development is pleased to announce that the Food & Shops program at LaGuardia’s Central Terminal Building has been recognized with two awards from The Port Authority of NY & NJ, as part of the Authority’s Customer Care program.

In an awards luncheon held last week, MarketPlace Development, the company that develops and manages the Food & Shops concessions program at LaGuardia’s Central Terminal Building, was awarded the Director’s Partnership Award, which is awarded to the company who partners with the Port Authority to create a significant impact on customer service.

“We are delighted to receive this honor from our partners at The Port Authority of NY & NJ.” says MarketPlace Development President, Paul McGinn. “Their commitment to providing the highest level of service at their airports inspires us on a daily basis. Together with the Port Authority, we have built a concessions program at LaGuardia that offers a high level of quality and service to the traveling public.”

In giving this award, Port Authority Director of Aviation Bill DeCota said, "My biggest source of pride is the outstanding group of customer ambassadors like you. People who know that good customer service is all about bringing customers back, and also about sending them away happy. It’s customer relationship management; it’s seeing our airports through the customers' eyes and delivering services you would be delighted with yourselves."

In addition to the Director’s Partnership Award, a Food & Shops concessions employee was named “LaGuardia Employee of the Year” for the Consistency in Service category. Belkys Polanco, Assistant Manager of Au Bon Pain was honored for consistently providing outstanding service to LaGuardia passengers.

“Ms. Polanco received the award based on her polite and professional service, cheerful demeanor, positive interaction with customers, and overall efforts to please customers,” said Lillian Tan, Vice President and General Manager of MarketPlace Development. ”We are thrilled for Ms. Polanco as her dedication reflects the Food & Shops’ ongoing commitment to deliver the highest level of service to our passengers.”

MarketPlace Development is the private partner with The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in the $18 million, 50,000-square-foot redevelopment of the food and retail program at the Central Terminal Building, the largest of LaGuardia’s four terminals. A Massachusetts based retail development and management company, MarketPlace Development also handles the development, management and leasing of all retail, food and beverage, and passenger service concessions in the seven domestic and international terminals at Philadelphia International Airport.
